Summer evenings…

Long, hot, beautiful summer evenings…

When I was a child, summer evenings were the most special times for me. Because we would all be outside, playing in the garden or on the street.

Our mothers would come out and sit in the garden after finishing their housework. They would chat with each other. We children would play around them.

When it got dark, fireflies would appear. We would try to catch them. But we would always release them again. Because we knew they were valuable.

Then the watermelon would be cut. We would all gather and eat watermelon. The sweetness of the watermelon, the chirping of crickets, the voices of our mothers chatting… These were the sounds of summer evenings.

As I grew up, summer evenings changed for me. As a teenager, summer evenings meant sitting with friends on the beach, chatting until morning.

We would make a fire on the beach, we would bring guitars. Someone would play guitar, we would all sing together. Sometimes we would be silent and just listen to the sound of waves.

In those moments we felt free. Because there was no one to tell us what to do. We had the whole night ahead of us.

Now summer evenings are different for me. Sometimes I spend them alone, sometimes with loved ones. But they always have a special meaning for me.

Because summer evenings remind me

of the past, beautiful memories. They remind me of carefree childhood days, free youth years.

And they make me think: time passes so fast. Life passes so fast. We should appreciate every moment…
